I am still not QRV on 160m. Previously, I got a many response from you,
and had a conclusion, that for my QTH, lazy H is the best option.
I am a bit afraid to erect a new antenna becouse of the council rules,
my wife and neighbours.
For me, the best option would be, if I could use my 80m vertical for
160m as well, or use the same supprt, or part of the support for 160m as
well.
So my 80m vertical is a standalone wire vertical, I put a 30 ft bamboo
to the top of the pine. Have 16 elevated radials, abt. 12 ft off the
ground. The tree is in a small valley, abt 15 ft deep, with very slopy
terrain. Becouse of that I had to use elevated radials...
So the measures : at 12 ft starts the vertical part, + 30 ft pine tree +
30ft bamboo. It survives 100 mph wind, not a problem.
Question:
How to use this for 160m? I cannot use the top of the bamboo, for
anything. If there is a storm the whole tree moves, so guying is not an
option. If I guy the top, it will broke. I had an idea to put 4 elevated
radials, 40m each, and a trap at the place, where the bamboo starts, so
at 30 ft, and control it with a remote relay. Or, lazy H would be an
option? Use the same pine tree as support, and have 45 ft vertical
section? At 45 ft height, I can put more capacity wires...
Thanks in advance,
Armin, ZL1KMN
