I'll second that,

Had to use the 857D last weekend also as my orion was in for a check up,

Agree with everything said,

For going on a trip or mobile,  just fine, (which is what I use it for),  
for contesting,  well,  I'm spoiled on the Orion.   Really missed the 
diversity reception to make those weak signals come through.
