Originally planned a full size Inverted-L for the contest. I got it up last
week. But the winter snow storm took it down.
So on with rain gutter antenna again from home. My goal was to give Stan, ZF5T
a 160 Q. Just worked ZF9CW last week on the big geomagnetic storm opening.
Mission accomplished just as it got dark here Friday evening of the contest.
Stan was very loud. I copied him both nights with a good signal.
I stayed on to work some contestants. Absorption seemed high Friday night and
signals overall down from the ARRL 160. Especially for stations north of
Kansas. Caribbean in well, and
logged KP4AA & XE2X.
Saturday sounded a little better. Pleased to work PJ2T at 0122 UTC. K0IDX was
strong from North Dakota. Quit at 0400 then on at 0930 UTC. Band seemed up and
worked K1LZ in Maine, WF2W NY and W2MKM NJ. New England is tough from Kansas
with a poor antenna. Copied KH6AQ with a strong signal calling CQ. Called many
times, got a ? from him...
Also P40AA and V31MA received. 73 — Jon N0JK
