Adding additional radials under one of the towers of your 80 meter array
should not have any adverse performance effects on your 80 meter array. If
anything, it should improve the efficiency of the 80 meter array a bit. It
may
effect the match of the 80 meter arry array a small amount at the feed point
of the array, but it should not be a serious problem.
If you add additional radials to both towers of the array, you will see the
same efficiency improvement and slight change in the match. However, you can
probably get away without doing the second tower.
At W8AV, I have a W8AV 80 meter triangle array suspended using ropes
attached to my 160 meter series fed base insulated vertical. I merely put the
80
meter radials on top of the 160 radials and bonded them together where they
intersected. This essentially gives me a wire mesh around both the 160 and 80
meter antennas. Although I had to detune the 160 meter tower for 80 meters to
keep it from screwing up the 80 meter pattern, the change on the match on
the 160 antenna was very small.
