Back in my early days when I had a central Electronics 20A. an old timer in
our club (W8CTY) told me to get on 160 just take my 80 mtr inverted vee coax
and short out the end of the PL259 together and carefully plug the tip into
the socket being careful not to short it to ground. I made a lot of contacts
with that setup, But of course we didn't have Killowats to contend with.
