Has anyone any experience with using a Hazer on a taller than specified tower?
I have a Sommer XP704 on a 75 ft Rohn 25 in the coastal area of Central
Florida. I have three sets of guys instead of the two specified due to the
possible wind velocities we could encounter.
Getting the big beam down is a real bitch and I am in my 70's! A Hazer type
system would be a big help but I do not want to reduce the antenna height if it
can be avoided. i.e. I could have the top guys (72ft level) on the Hazer.
Remove the second guy set (about 50ft level) and lower the beam to the level of
the lowest guy set (about 25ft level) It would then have considerable
protection from major winds as I have extensive tall woods in several
directions.
On an allied subject, does anyone know where to get extended length shackles
which will go around a Rohn 25 leg, preferably with bent bolts. We fitted some
that we happened to have, to our club station lower guy set with safety pin
fasteners for quick release and this makes lowering the clubs beam on its Hazer
VERY quick and easy as the guy set becomes a quick release system.
