Some have told me that you don't see many contesting stations using log
periodic antennas. Is that true? If so, why? For example, the
Tennadyne T-10 claims 6.1 Dbd gain and 15-25 F:B. That certainly
APPEARS like it would be competitive with even the C31XR or TH11DX, yet
I don't hear about many using LPDAs. What's not apparent from the
numbers?
BTW, I dug my own tower hole 4x4x5 with a rented bobcat excavator for
$99 - worked great - no boulders or other problems. For those of you
that have emailed me previously, I selected the "way out back, in the
clear site" for my tower. Good thing - Yesterday afternoon for no
apparent reason (windless sunny day), a huge branch fell from an
apparently healthy tall tree and took down our power and phone lines!
At least in the open field I won't have to worry about limbs falling on
my guys etc. TNX
