Amen.

I operated second floor for years without an "RF Ground".  No problems.  I
now use an MFJ961 artificial ground and counterpoise on the 2nd floor, but I
am not convinced that it does much.  Maybe on one band only.

You will never get an RF ground that far away. Why do you think you need one
anyway?
