Hi Jim,
Have just made a post on this.
Based on experience at my end over 15 yrs working from my former QTH which
was a townhouse in downtown Auckland.
Inverted L on roof with elevated radials (two on 80) could QSO JA with 5W on
80 on more nights than not.. I worked many countries with this antenna, got
good placings in local 80m contests and very good comparative reports with
other ZL stations.
Used the inverted L with elevated radials and 50ft vertical section (almost
full 1/4 wave vertical section) with success at this QTH (like around 100 Eu
QSO in one hour on a good contest night on 80) but currently using a dipole
at 50ft as it hears better and seems as good on transmit. QTH is at 300ft on
the coast directly above the (nude) beach.
Hope to have the dipole as inv vee with apex at 70ft /370ft asl.
