The TH7 is a proven winner for us one HF antenna installations. You'll =
probably get lots of mail on this one! I have a TH7 and it has been up =
for 14 years
20 meters 14005, 1.6 14340 1.8 14200 1-1
15 meters 21005, 1.7 21440 1.8 21210 1-1
10 meters 28005, 1.6 29650 1.7 29000 1-1.2=20
As you can see the bottom end of 15 and 10 meters is better than the =
manual. My antenna is 73 feet high and has guy wires 10 feet below the =
beam, broken up with insulators 3 feet from the tower. I also have a =
wire Vee antenna 6 feet below the beam.
The manual stated that there are several factors that can effect the =
performance. I would start by looking at the manual for the variables =
and see if any of them apply in the previous owners installation. =
Another place to look would be the traps. Since you are putting up a =
used antenna I would call high-gain and order all new plastic parts. =
They will cost around $55.00. While you are changing out the plastic =
blow out the traps. This is a great place for critters to build webs and =
block the drain holes. You will also get a good look at the inside =
condition of the traps.
As with all antennas we want to put them up and don't think about them =
for YEARS! While it is down you might want to clean all aluminum to =
aluminum connections and use a quality conductive grease. There has been =
much, much discussion in the past on TowerTalk, on element to element =
conductive grease. Check out the archives on this one.
If you can wait, Dayton is coming up and the answer men from High-Gain =
will be there. The Dayton Antenna Forum would be another place to trade =
ideas on moving the swr points on the TH7.
