Why not get a relatively inexpensive A - B rs232 switch.  It will have
either DB25 of DB9 sockets, and I believe there are at least 6 switched
contacts there.  If not, then perhaps it is not necessary to switch the
ground lead, leaving 5 leads to be accomodated.  Worth looking into.

Geez.  Wish we could dig basements down here..  Water table lies only 3 to 4
feet down...  (sigh)

Let us know what you come up with.
