I originally used the thin plastic drain pipe. I put in a 45 a short stub on 
the bottom, capped it, and then drilled a whole series of 1/8" holes.  In 10 
years it accumulated a little dirt, but no problems.  The current system is 
using 4" PVC conduit with all joints sealed.  The tower end goes up, into a 
good size Hoffman box where it's sealed with the soft expandable foam. Not 
the yellow stuff that gets hard and springs door and window jams.

The conduit runs undereground from the tower to the basement wall. Now where 
does it get below the frost line.  It's only down about 8 to 10 inches at 
the deepest.  Condensation has not been a problem.

It's *sometimes* easier to pull past a 45.

BTW, it's so cold outside I had to put the snow blower  in my heated shop 
before I could get it to start.
I burned up the starter, trying to start it out in the garage, but after a 
couple hours in the shop it started on the first pull of the manual starter.
