Place the bottom of the mast against a firm support (eg on the ground
against the bottom of a wall) and make sure that all the smaller
sections are safely stowed inside the mast. Then find a piece of wood
and hold it absolutely square against the top of the jammed section.
Give the wood a sharp tap with a steel hammer and the joint will come
loose.
NB: Never hit the end of the mast section directly - it will splinter!
(How do I know this?)
