Actually it didn't. Look at the map at the beginning of
each show (or come to northwest Nevada). The Ponderosa
itself was located on the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe. Virginia
City was where the Ponderosans visited for supplies etc
Be careful, Tom, Nevada is known for making laws which are
retroactive! I don't know if it changed, but when I moved to Nevada
in 1994, the district attorney for Douglas County told me that it was
his opinion that PRB-1 pre-empted any restrictions Douglas County
might care to impose. No, I didn't get it in writing because I had no
plans to install anything but my GAP vertical. If the bad guys chase
you out of Dodge (Va City), head a few miles south!
Oh, yes. Virginia City was a home to Mark Twain who wrote
for the territorial newspaper, has the famous (infamous?) and
incredible camel races (they race camels, ostriches, llamas and
water buffalo), and has a very interesting radio museum in the
former church on C or D Street on the way to the V&T railroad ride.

Hi Tom...
I can't help but wonder what Ole Ben Cartright and the boys of the Ponderosa
would say about this!
I'm sure that if they were there today, they would form a posse and take
care of
the neighbors.
Also, Hoss would make one hell of a ground crew member.
For those who are lost, Bonanza took place in Tom's town of Virginia City...
