Have installed chokes at both antenna feed points and in shack. With roof
mounted antennas in dense urban area (15.5 ft / 4.7 m wide lot), adding the
choke in the shack really helped settle things down both for RF in the shack
and also for the rigs' internal tuners to find a match. Surprised about the
discussion as thought the second choke was common practice. It would seem
that for non-tower mounted antennas, feedline shield pickup (coupling?)
would seem to be difficult to avoid without the shielding from the tower
structure. As an observation, as don't have the theory or means to measure
accurately: Jim's K9YC cookbook designs do work better than beads over coax.
