Essentially there is a copper clamp designed for the specific diameter of
feedline involved. The clamp is secured around the feedline after stripping
the insulation off, and tightened in place. Then either a gasketed cover or
a mastic tape is applied over the kit. The stranded wire pigtail exiting
from the kit is then bonded to the structure.
Many professional installations do this a few feet below the antenna, then
again where it leaves the tower, once more just before it enters the
building, then a lightning arrestor within 24" of the entry point into the
building. Many options, but the more chances you have for high voltage to
jump off and get to the ground before going inside, the better protected you
are.
