Roger, Dave et al,
Two basic threads of thought here...

The use of a four square is a serious step up, so if your community
officials or just your neighbors don't want it, then they can ensure that an
appropriate vista license for the erection or use of the four square is not
granted.

If the major erection stays up for more than four hours, then you won't have
to worry about vista, you'll have to get a doctor involved. Now if the
doctor is not a qualified specialist, then perhaps vista will recognize this
deficiency and degrade his service in resolving the problem. Is that good?

You have to be careful in your planning. If this big erection is considered
"premium content" Vista is designed to degrade premium content unless all
devices in the path are HDCP compliant.

We know that all ham transmissions are required by regulation to be mundane,

or unimportant enough to not use other means for the communication so that
pretty much lets us off the hook for DRM of the content unless said content
is digital, but again unless the format is propritary we should be OK.

OTOH is the antenna considered "premium"? Will the 4 square make you "top
dog" in the contest. Then Vista might consider the antenna premium content,
but if it does, will it degrade the performance of the antenna or just the
dimensions. With music and video it just degrades the output, so like the
image it may give you the dimensions to the nearest inch instead of the
nearest thousandth. Of course if the antenna design is considered some one's

intellectual property, it may refuse to give any dimensions at all.

As to the Owl and true North, it should just degrade the precision, but how
much. It may degrade a precision Owl capable of measuring true north to the

nearest minute all the way down to the nearest degree thus making the
precision Owl no better than the cheap plastic ones.

But, you pays your money and takes your choice...and chances. Even antennas

are a group of compromises.
