There are a number of heavy duty electric hammers that can be rented for
driving ground rods.
I use a Bosch hammer that accepts a chisel with a octagonal head.
Slip the rod into the hole that the chisel fits into and let her rip.
It won't jump off the rod.
Obviously the heavier the hammer the harder it hits.
Bosch makes a 30 lb. 'demo' hammer that really slams them in fast.
