Personally I like insulated, stranded 18 gauge wire. I've found 5000 ft spools
on eBay for real cheap. I like this better than 14 or even 12 gauge since it's
light enough to not retain much memory but the insulation is heavy enough to
cause it to lay down on the ground and follow along the contours. I merely cut
the grass short then lay it on the grass. I then use harpins made out of galv.
electric fence wire to staple it down. Within three months one can't even find
it. You don't need to spend lots of money for this; do some scrounging. Phil
