Hello-
I am rebuilding an old weathered Cushcraft D-40 "World Ranger" rotary
dipole. The 2 loading coils are what I have questions about:
   1. The heat-shrink covering on both of the loading coils is bad and has
allowed moisture to enter. The magnet wire looks real good, I just need to
clean the alum tubes and replace the screws where the loading coil wires
terminate. What is the best heat shrink to used on these? I see that I can
obtain it from Cushcraft but it sure is pricey.
   2. I noticed there was a brown colored material packed inside each of the
loading coils. It appeared as some form of sealant or filler material. I assume
they injected this at the factory, does anyone know what it is and what I
should put in its place?
                 Thank you,
                      Byron WA5THJ
