I use an old style parachute harness with D rings on the main lift web for a
safety belt. Some of the designs are quite comfortable, they are certainly
strong enough, you can't fall out of them, and although new harnesses are
expensive the old ones are often given away. Not because they have become
unsafe, but because gear styles have changed.
