Time to reveal another secret.
Look up lightning systems in your Yellow Pages. Go to the local dealer
and ask if you cna buy three ground rods, each five feet long -- the type
of ground rod which has a threaded top. This permits you to buy
couplers, and make a 15 foot ground rod go down through the floor when
you have only an eight foot ceiling.
One such manufacturer is Thompson Lightning Protections, St. Paul, MN,
612/455-7661. In 1984, their sales engineer was WD0SCW, Fred C. Clarke.
Their dealer in EMA is Boston Lightning Rod Co., Dedham, MA 617/326-2807.
After drilling through the concrete, seal it with marine cement, which
expands and will seal up the hole tight, so no water will come up through
your floor.
I have no financial interest in these guys, but I do love having a ground
rod right in my shack.
