A question for the antenna gurus....I have a quarter wave 20m
homebrew vertical with about 36 radials that are from 13 to 36 feet
long. Antenna works fine but I want to replace it with a 40m vertical
that will have a trap at the top for the 80m inverted "L" portion.
The problem....I would have to guy the 40/80 and the XYL won't go
for that since the antenna is on the side and would sorta be an
eyesore. So, I am contemplating attaching it to the eave of the
house but the existing 20m radial field center would be abt 13
feet from the base of the 40/80. How can I use the existing
radials (without moving them) and if I do use them, will the
fact that their center is offset from the base by 13 feet cause
the 40/80 to be less efficient?

Thanks for your input,
