I'm always amazed that so few hams know that these
$5 gadgets exist, or have no idea how to use them,
and consequently don't recognize their value.

If you are right-handed, you put your left hand on the
sliding thing in the center of the reel, and crank the
knob with your right hand. Simple as that. Whoever invented
these things ought to get the silver medal for mechanical
engineering. The gold medal goes to the guy who invented the
hose clamp.
