 Hi,

I'm in the process of assembling a C4XL and had also the same problem. This
is how I've solved it:

Use only TWO holes at the tip of the elements (although I don't have the
manual at hand, I rememeber this IS written somewhere inside). This will
give you +/- 1 adjustment. The other +/- 1 comes from the next tapering
point, where there are FOUR holes.

Just don't assume that the +/- 2 comes from the same place.

Gool luck and please keep us posted.

Sorry to bother this list with my questions but it is antenna related and
the antenna is going on a tower so.....
Anyhow, this has already been posted to the Force12 reflector but that list
must be under full moderation as it is brutally slow in turn around and I
would like to get this beast together so I can start trying to figure out
how the heck I'm going to get it to the top of the tower!

What follows are two messages sent to the F12 reflector. Please read both
messages before responding as they are somewhat interleaved. Hopefully
between here and the F12 reflector I can sort this out but I'm getting a
little smoked at the manuals apparent discrepancies! Its not like this
product came out yesterday!

Thanks for any and all assistance and feel free to respond off list if you
feel this is not the appropriate place.

OK, I think it is definitely time to quit for the day - I'm REALLY confused
now! I put the 10m driver (#6) together and THOUGHT I counted 4 holes in
the tip of the element. The manual says there is an adjustment of +/- 2
holes so I left 2 holes exposed thinking this would move the resonant point
to 28.30 (28.800 - 2 x 250kHz). Now I'm putting the 15meter driver together
and I KNOW it has 4 holes in the tip of the element. As I am deciding where
I want to set it (125kHz per hole) I realize that 2 holes in the larger
element and 4 in the smaller part only gives me an adjustment of +/- one!
Hmmm. That is the same thing I had on the 10meter driver - wasn't it? Before
I drill the rivets on the 10m element to see if there are really 5 holes,
can someone tell me for sure how many holes are in the tip of the 10m driver
(#6)? If there are only 4, how the heck do I get +/- 2 holes of adjustment?
