My 2800 which I purchased in 1998 is a RC-2800P-A which is probably
from a previous product. However, my control box is stamped "DC"
on the underside and my manual/instructions were for a DC motor.

My memory (which is sometimes less than perfect) is that the OR 2800 was
acquired by M2 from some other company and changes made in it's design. I
believe there was an earlier version which used an AC motor. 73, Dan, N5AR

Nope.
I'm 99% sure they all had DC motors. I think the new ones (which I have on
of) a higher torque rating. I use 100 feet of 2 conductor #18 zip cord for
the motor on mine. For the control I use 2 conductor #28 telephone wire. I
love the rotor and have had no issues with it. I use the RS-232 control
with my Writelog logging software.
