Fibermesh isn't all that new. It can be used in certain applications as a
replacement for wire mesh. As a draftsman for structural engineers I have
never seen Fibermesh as an option when the structure calls for more than
wire netting. It works wonders and saves time and labor when pouring a
driveway or patio and even some floors up to 6" thick, but it will never
replace rebar when rebar is needed. There is just no way the mix quality,
quantity and "gription" of the mesh will ever be assured enough to replace
solid rod.
