AA6PW and I just replaced his K1550 with a K2550 this week on his TX455, when the K1550 failed causing the tower to collapse suddenly.

The K2550 is a little larger and the holes will line up just barely. More cranks are required to raise the tower, but much less effort is needed! The plate on the TX455 was not designed for the K2550 so we had to shim it and flip the drum bolt over. I'll get some pictures of it and post them on my website. I'll post a message when they are uploaded.

I say, GO FOR IT!

Has anybody replaced a K1550 (as used on some US Tower models) by a
K2550? The mechanical advantage of the latter is much greater, so
operation should be much easier. Is the arrangement of mounting holes
the same?

72 and Happy New Year
