Well Ernesto, there are actually about 65,000 serial addresses in a
PC, however some do not take kindly to being read or written to.
As for the IRQs, you have of course 0-12 and 15. DO NOT mess around
with IRQ 13 or 14. Printers don't generally need an IRQ, so that frees
up 5 and 7 if you want to use them. IRQ 9 is usually redirected from
IRQ 2, so you can use that. In general, you have 2,3,4,5,7,10,11,12 &
15 to work with. One trick you can use if you absolutely have to find
another IRQ is to replace the motherboard with one which has an onboard
mouse built in. That frees one up.
