Methyl Ethyl Ketone is used as a solvent and degreaser. Finding a small
quantity to purchase will be tough. Try calling around to auto body
shops. You might want to take the can to them and just buy a couple of
tablespoons worth, and let them pour it into the can.
This stuff STINKS, is flammable, and is probably the reason why I have
such a problem with Morse Code ;)
If you do bring some home, store it in a properly labeled metal
container
and use it OUTSIDE!
It will evaporate, so any rags used for cleanup should be left in an
OPEN
OUTSIDE container, or proper rag fire container, until dry.
Treat it like gasoline, and you should be safe.
All in all, you are probably better off to discard the old can, and buy
a new one. Keep it tightly capped.
