up here i put large cable clamps over the ends of the preform
grips. on long guy wires (like the top 3 sets on 150' tower) i
also put a cable clamp about 1/2 way up the guy. its amazing
to watch the ice shed off in small pieces when it hits the mid
point cable clamp. i also leave the dead end long on the cable
and wrap it all the way back up to the live end and clamp it
with a single clamp.... triple protection, but up here we get
fairly frequent ice storms.
