Now I see my error. I checked at .35 wl spacing
and that will give about .5 wl on the diagonal.
Don´t know why I wrote 1.5 wl and 2 wl below,
my fingers are to fast for my brain.
Anyway, at .35 spaceing the F/B doesn´t seem
to get better, what I wrote below will happen.

Actually you want to go to sqrt(2)/4 spacing. The gain and front to back
improve slightly.

Improved in what way? Did a quick check in NEC. When going to about 1.5 wl spaceing, that will give about 2 wl on the diagonal, two strong aditional back loobes comes up in low elevation. Hardly does anything to the strong high angle rear loob which is very narrow and generaly isn´t a big problem. Gain comes up with about .5 dB. Do I miss something? I can´t see the improvement.

For those using Comtek and other boxes that restrict
one to 90 and 180 degree phasing, you can get an
improved pattern by increasing the spacing between
elements. A half wave across the diagonal seems to
work well.
