I read the archive re. a 2002 discussion of balun options
for the Hy-Gain TH7DX, and similar beams.

I have just acquired a very used TH7DX needing some
aluminum repair and thought I'd revisit the balun
question while it is on the ground and under renovation!

I understood from the discussion that some sort of
current balun is preferred to the BN-86 voltage balun.

Operating Parameters:

1. I will be running full legal as needed.

2. Installed in West Central Florida so it won't see ice but
will see some heavy gusting winds (55-60MPH just the other
day!), not to mention the occasional hurricane.

3. It will be mounted on a tiltover, so it will be lowered
and strapped down when heavy weather is forecast.

4. It will see lots of lightning.

Does any of that impact the choice of balun design?
