Do not use 19 strand wire rope. It is designed for a different
application (runs around pulleys, etc), and comes in many different
designs (Warrington vs Seale cross-sections, right regular, right lang,
etc.). All of them have particular advantages and disadvantages for
specific applications. For OUR application (tower guy wire), 19-strand
wire rope is too stretchy.
Seven strand wire rope contains one straight WSC (wire strand core)
and six surrounding strands, and all strands are the SAME diameter.
THIS is what you want for tower guys. It has much lower stretch than
other wire rope designs (except solid rod).
You want right lay (when viewed from above, the strands rotate to the
right as they recede away from the observer), the most common form. If
you use Grips, you must use the correct version of Grips for the lay of
the guy.
Doesn't McMaster have galvanized EHS seven strand cable or cable clips?
