I has a little more gain in the direction directly opposite the
direction the top wire is running away from the vertical wire (maybe 2
dB or so). The angle created by bending a wire causes some field
cancellation in the direction of that angle, so less gain in that
direction.
That assumes the L is close to 1/4 wavelength long. If it is longer,
then the answer may change because the total gain is the sum of both the
vertical and horizontal components and on the higher bands, the top part
radiates more.
