One of the problems with an acre lot (which is gigantic to many) is
being active on all low bands.
I'd not had any problems in the past, but night before last, I powerd up
the amp on 75. This was the first time I have been able to hit the legal
limit on 75 as I had the little Alpha on there before. As the power
approached max I noticed the lights in the control box for my six-pack
coming on.
I really don't want to pull the old, cheap balun out as it's been up
long enough I'd never be able to solder to the wire. OTOH I'll probably
end up replacing the whole thing and installing a good current balun at
the feed point.
What I'm wondering about is trying 2 or 3 of the large Fair-Rite
clampons right at and below the connector for the old balun as a test.
Now if those clampons had a larger hole than 1"...
