I'd like to hear more about these.

Other options -- Dunestar makes switchable filter sets that are
generally accepted as being superior to the ICE filters. Google to find
them. The Cadillac of bandpass filters are the W3NQN designs, currently
sold (and probably built) by Array Solutions. The W3NQN filters are
individual filters in boxes, and require a switching system. Array
Solutions builds and sells such a system.

I have two 402 switchable filter sets and a half dozen single band
filters. Both of my 402 sets have failed -- they simply will not
tolerate 100w under contest conditions, and with SWR as low as 1.5 to
1. They are OK at the 50W level needed to drive my power amps.
According to data I've seen, the filter characteristics of the ICE
filters are a notch below Dunestar, and WAY below W3NQN filters. The 6M
and 2M ICE filters I bought in about 2003 both were out of alignment
when I bought them (as measured by insertion loss testing with my HP
test gear). All were fixed when I returned them for repair, but you're
without them during that period, and shipping isn't free. And I waited
more than a year for those 402s when I first bought them, and they came
in out of alignment.

Bottom line -- while I'm really sorry to hear of Mike's passing, I
wouldn't cry too long about the loss of the company.
