Protectors should ALWAYS be located and grounded as close as possible to
the receivers they are protecting. Remember that ALL grounds in your
home MUST be bonded together for lightning safety. This includes power
system ground, your ham station, arrestors for telephone, cable TV, and
satellite dish, and your tower if it is close to your house. If your
tower is at considerable distance from your house, you generally do NOT
need anything more than the coax between the tower and the house. The
tower, of course, MUST be bonded at its base, and the transmission lines
must be bonded at that point.
