Silicone grease such as DC-4 or DC-5 compounds work well and do not dry
out. HOWEVER one has to be careful when flooding connectors. Usually a
good weather proofing on the connectors is all that is necessary to keep
water out of the coax. The down side to flooding connectors is the coax
breathing through one end only. Typically only do the connector at the
top of the tower. If both ends of a section of coax are flooded the
internal pressure will change dramatically with temperature. It will be
enough to force the air out past the grease/flooding compound, or suck
in air. This will likely lead to condensation and can actually
accelerate the deterioration of the coax.
