In my opinion, I would never use any lube on tower sections where they
join. Read the ROHN on-line manual or even call the company and ask
their opinion. It reduces the strength of the joint, putting most of the
weight on the bolts. I'd much rather use a tower jack to get them apart,
rather than lube the sections. The 25G and 45G both use the friction of
the galvanized joint to add strength. I do use never seize on the
bolts. I use a taper pin punch to enlarge the holes "when necessary" if
the galvanizing prevents the bolts from going in easily. They should be
a snug fit and according to the manual, never screwed in using the
threads to force the bolt in, nor should the bolt holes be reamed.
