Thrust Bearing.
I have a Rohn TB-4 Thrust Bearing & I just measured it. It will seemingly
take up to a three inch mast based on the inside measurement.
It is For Sale ... should someone be interested?
It is without the four base plate mounting bolts or the four bolts that go
thru the rotating part to apply a grip on a mast. It rotates freely and no
binding was felt.
Reply off-line if interested. _rttyman@aol.com_ (mailto:rttyman@aol.com)

Mike, a quick Ebay search for 3 1/2" bearing turned up several four hole
flange bearings over a range of $329 to $1300 as well as one offering that
goes another 3 days to the high bidder.
You can have a local bearing supplier order one for you but expect to pay
$1200 or more.

Try the following for a 4 hole horizontal pillow block bearing unit
(horizontal flange mounting):
Locate Ball Bearings

800-409-3632
Prices are very reasonable.

A few years back I stopped in at the FBO (Up North) where I used to take
my plane. He was showing me a beautiful Cessna 310 (Twin Engine). He
said the bought a real nice "paint job". On a close inspection, it
didn't look so good. When you have a problem "up there" you can't just
pull over and get out the tool box.<:-))

How about the ROHN TB-4? The opening is considerably larger than the
TB-3. I'd have to go out and measure just how large a mast they can
handle and I don't know if they are still made.

I'm installing some Rohn 45 with base being a half section in concrete. I
see that there has been a TT discussion of whether to coat the legs of the
buried section where they exit the concrete on top with some sort of
coating. One poster stated that Rohn recommended this but I cannot find any
reference to it. Can anyone clarify if this is necessary and if so, how should
the legs be coated at the exit point? As always, thank you one and all for
your generosity in sharing your knowledge. Mike W2LO

Hi Mike,
The DELHI-brand self-supporting tower instructions here do not
specifically reference the necessity of coating the in-cement leg extensions
with
ANYTHING...
They DO, however, explicitly state that you must install long bolts
through holes in the extensions at the bottom, to ensure that the things won't
somehow extricate themselves from the concrete.

Thanks to Rob K6DQ on the tower and helping with ground repair and Steve
AB4UF on the
ground, my 4 element SteppIR is working again. The problem was the tape
had come off
the reel on the 30/40 driven element. No reason was found. I'm on my 3rd
EHU for
this. SteppIR was very good about replacing the bad units.

I just measured one of the two TB-4s I have stored on the basement.
Less than 3.1" diameter opening.
