Recent ones also come with instructions emphasizing the importance of the
proper tightening sequence. It is easy to imagine tightening the clamps down
to the top housing off center with respect to the mast, so that when the
rotator turns it puts extra stress on the clamps.
A search of the Towertalk archive should turn up lots of suggestions for
anti-slip materials that might be placed between the clamps and the mast to
minimize the amount of clamping pressure required, because the subject has come
up over and over. I just use a pinning bolt, and have done so for 9 years on
two rotators with no problems.
