I believe the control boxes now use a standard AMP connector, which at least 
isn't very expensive, though I agree crimping them right takes some practice.  
The one on the rotator is pretty expensive (there was a recent thread about 
that, and sources for them) but the pins are quite far apart and easy to solder 
(IMO), certainly easier than the DIN plugs we deal with all the time on our 
rigs.
