I had mentioned a 9 mm size but that is for the hole. Yes the bolt has a 8 mm
diameter.
Additionally I have found that if the mast is aluminum, seldom have I needed to
pin but if the mast is steel, I can never get the clam shells tight enough
around the mast to either prevent slippage or cracking the shell, so pinning is
required.
