Thanks for the replies. If the reed relay is welded as many suspect
would the reading on the reed line still be according to specs? It is
now but about 5.1 ohms?

Thanks,

The reed relay in the rotor has proably welded its contacts. It sits
below
the back end of the motor. As the motor turns, magnets on a T at the
end of
the motor turn and pulse the reed relay.
12 volts is applied by the control box on terminals 5 and 6. and the
relay
pulses that 12V. Those
pulses are used to determine direction.

I have received free relays from Msquared. Hassle is taking apart the
rotor
to change the rotor.
Two things to look for.
When you have the control box on..hit the CW or CCW buttan and the
indication just changes one digit is one indivation..

If the rotor blows a fuse when you have the cable hooked up and you plug
it
in, one or both of the caps is blown which is accross the motor windings
to
keep down noisey clicks when the rotor is turning.

Hope that makes sense.. I am sleepy!! but have been through this several

times..
Take care

Hi all on TT,

I had an unpleasant visit from sparky this past weekend. My 80 foot
tower took a hit. The Internet wireless fried. My two antennas seem to
be fine.

However, my Rotator seems hit. Have any of you experienced lightning
damage to the M2 2800DC ? I have made the checks per manual and
everything below seems to be according to specs. (the control box and
all the shack was completely disconnected during the storm). The
readings for the 4 control wires are according to specs so I would think
this would mean the cables are all ok? I can only suspect the rotator
itself took a hit? Any ideas appreciated.

Gary, N5PHT
