PROPAGATION is a big factor. With excellent propagation one doesn't need a
big antenna. Remember he is running only 5 watts and don't forget to factor
in his wire antennas. And he is not operating from a 'rare'
province/territory. With marginal to poor propagation, yes a better beam
would help. But this weekend propagation was good.
I noticed a skewed 10m path to EU. Normally I beam NE but signals were much
stronger when I beamed straight East.

The fundamental point is that there are better beams available - if
performance is is the emphasis. The Mosely's have a good reputation of not
falling down in the ice and around here that's a HUGE factor. So it depends
on what a guy wants.
This score does not establish that the beam was a benefit or hindrance.
Rather, the objective data that has been published suggests that IF he had a
better MEASURED PERFORMING beam, his scores would surely have been better.

I was looking at the scores on 3830 from the ARRL CW DX test and saw
this score from a QRP operator.:
"Total: 1108 314 Total Score = 1,043,736
Club: Contest Club Ontario
Comments:
K3(5W), TA-33 @ 50', wires"
I wonder if he knows the TA-33 doesn't work????? 73
