Jim, I agree that folks should read your website tutorial on bead  
baluns.
However, your comment regarding markups is, well, naive.

If you want to avoid the markup on small orders of ferrites, go to  
the manufacturer of them, and place his
minimum order quantity.   See how long they sit on your shelf, and  
what return you're getting
on your money.

5x markup is standard in auto parts, as it is with manufacturers for  
spare parts.
What do you suppose Radio Shack charges for a 1k ohm resistor?   
probably costs them less than a penny,
in quantity.    And they still lose money on 'em.
