I also measured resonances of the elements a long time ago. Here are my
numbers, which are slightly different from KLM's. The results of such
measurements are variable depending on your technique.
-Tony, K1KP
The following measurements of resonant frequencies were made 8/20/96
on my KT-34XA. Each element was removed from the boom, separated
a reasonable distance from the rest of the antenna and oriented
90 degrees to the other elements. The element under test was mounted
on a step ladder such that the element center was 60" above grassy
soil. The element was horizontal. All straps, etc were removed from the
element. The front driven element was left with the T-match and 200 ohm
balun intact, with the 50 ohm side of the balun left open. An Autek RF-1
with lead lengths ~1.5 inches was connected across the inner mounting
screws. The frequency was adjusted for minimum SWR. The frequency,
minimum SWR, and impedance readings were recorded. The measurement
was repeated three times on the D3, with reasonable repeatability
shown.
