I believe they use something around 2.4 GHz, near the "water line". Please 
correct me if I'm wrong.

What frequencies are they using that are so susceptible to weather and

foliage?  I've heard similar complaints about DBS television on the

Ku/Ka bands.  The old BUD satellite systems were on C band which I

think performs better in an inhospitable atmosphere.
