    While making this job easier, it's not a very good technique. It's
because the ground rod isn't in very good contact with the earth which is
what you're trying to do. It's like a loose coax or electrical connector -
sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Your goal is to have a
low-resistance ground system with good, solid connections everywhere.
